Hello,
is anyone else than me experiencing difficulty to download anything from chauthanh, lately?
I understand and accept that free dowload without donation is slower. But it did not use to be this slow.
What is worse, it's often unsuccessful. After the downloading time, it says "Failed to download" or "Cannot be downloaded", sometimes even "Authorization needed" (depending on the browser. Can't use Firefox, because that would download all .mkvs as .webm, so I usually use Edge). After that, if I simply try to download it again, it does download, suddenly it can be downloaded no authorization needed, obviously it just needs more attempts. This is new though, it did not occur ever before.
It's been like that for more than a month.
Downloading any file, besides the slow speed, I am now not even sure with the result. Sometimes it's sucessfull 1 attempt of a 10.
It's especially troublesome with big files with the downloading time 8-9 hours. I treasure your uploads so it is worth the waiting time only it's sad that it says the download failed in the end.
Is anyone else experiencing this or is it just me?
Was there any change in your server, or anything I should know? I searched Forum for Announcement but there was none.

Okay as my friend suggested, I tried downloading through a manager instead directly in the browser (I usually don't use any programs, because I don't download that many stuff) when he watched me trying to get 1 episode for days:-)
I can now add that the downloader says "503-Service Temporarily Unavailable (chauthanh.info)" nevertheless it immediatelly attempts to download it again automatically without me manually doing it. So I might wait for days but at least this does the click work for me.
It's possible though, that the 503 notice is only because I loaded the whole drama in the manager and I know by experience that it does not allow you to download more than 4 files simultaneously. So, 4 episodes the manager says "Download (chauthanh.info)" only the remaining ones have "503-Service Temporarily Unavailable (chauthanh.info)". But those having "Download (chauthanh.info)" have remaining time 7-8 hours and I'll learn whether the download really completes only after that.

The site allow 4 connections each free user. Meaning that you download at max 4 threads, not 4 files. So if the download manager open 4 threads for 1 file, you won't be able to download anymore files and will get 503 error.
My recommendation is that you should just download 1 file per time, to keep the speed optimal. And never forget using a download manager.

I can't speak for the download speeds, but I'm having similar issues with downloads randomly dropping seemingly no reason (free tier). Sometimes the download would go for 1 hour before it fails, other times it could be 10-15 minutes. Like you, I have success maybe 1 out of every 7 or so tries without the connection dropping. Not sure if a particular server is having issues or something.

Admin resorting to downloading 4 files simultaneously through the download manager is something I gradually got to after the described problems.
As I said, I don't download much.
Usually, I want to download 1 drama or 1 anime, and 1 episode is okay for a start because I don't like to watch it all at 1 sitting anyways.
The problems occur when downloading 1 file straight from the site.
It's not how it used to be. Not just the speed. The failing to complete the download in the end. That's new. You need to try to download the same file several times. That prompts you to try downloading more of them because you know that only some of them will actually download. That prompts you to try other ways.
I tried different browsers, again because of the problems.

Just stop using the brower's built-in downloader, it will fail after an hour or so of downloading. Why not use a free downloader like FDM or NeatDM?

I thought that the thing with the complete download failure is something you probably should know, and I only described in detail because I thought it might help.

That's why you will need a download manager. In case some error pulls up, it just throw out error and stop, and you can resume the file with ease.
Our site was coded so it ensure the number of connections for each user, so the more you download, the more likely error will arise. Just wait a few second and resume and it'll be fine.

I agree with ha_pi_pi, I'd also like to say thank you for all the hard work you put into this site, and providing us with so much content. I've found some older dramas here that I've had trouble finding elsewhere.
If this current behavior is intended, then it's not a problem at all. I don't mind having to use a download manager to get the files. I just wanted to make sure this isn't an unintended behavior that you weren't aware of. The last time I used this site in October 2023 I never experienced this, that's why I thought maybe something was wrong.
