I think the good thing about manga is that we can reflect on/interpret the message of the writer/artist ourselves, just like when we read a book. In anime, more often than not, the director/script writer add in/imposed their own interpretation on us, which can be quite forceful sometimes, thus preventing us developing our own idea. Anime, in general, is a more powerful/aggressive form of media compared to manga because of the refined character designs, dazzling visuals, mesmerizing soundtracks and captivating (sometimes) performance of the vocal actors, but manga has the advantage of originality (most of the time), being more subtle and flexible in ideology, and without all the high-tech presentations of anime, allow more room/time for thinking. All in all, these are two very different but intimately connected art forms and should just be enjoyed on the merits of their own. Well, that's my thought anyway...

One bad thing about manga is that, to get the latest ones, you usually has to buy it (else you have to wait for some great kind souls to scan, translate and then share it) whereas for anime, the latest ones are usually free and instantaneously (almost) available ne...
