Just watched this movie called 'The Hurt Locker'. A truly brilliant portrayal of the war in Iraq. If 'Inglorious Basterds' is a fantasy-comedy remake of WWII history, then 'The Hurt Locker' is a grim, no-nonsense story on the harsh reality of the brutal kill-zones in Baghdad.
A near-documentary film about the psychological traumas, constant brush with death, morality between enemies, heartbreaking dilemmas and sense of helplessness/hopelessness faced by a team of E.O.D (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) unit and the American G.Is in general. The actors, though not the Hollywood pretty boys one is accustomed to, played their roles superbly and gave the impressions of real-life soldiers, no superheroes here, just plain ordinary humans who have fear and doubts, can be easily injured/killed and most touchingly, can cry (yep, full grown, battle-hardened men in tears). Most, including the main lead, however, don't really know why they are there. Some are trying their best just to survive long enough to go home while some, like the main lead, seemed yearning to return there, tour after tour. The film didn't tell you the reason, but perhaps the opening quotes summarized it all 'War is a drug'...
Anyway, this film is a must see, probably the best for a long time to come. Give one a new insight/perspective into the reality of the Iraq war, not the glorified/edited version shown in the mainstream Hollywood or for that matters, your TV/newspapers.

"Enlightenment is finding that there is nothing to find. Enlightenment is to come to know that there is nowhere to go. Enlightenment is the understanding that this is all, that this is perfect, that this is it." ~ Osho

Yea, i'm waiting for 2012 too. It sounds really interesting with all that believe from the mayan calander that the world ends at 2012.
I don't really believe that though.
