I'm from South Africa, and the state of anime in my country is very very very very poooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrr!!!!
When it comes to shops which speacilze in anime only they are none which I have seen, only 2 which I have heard of which are a mix between gaming, comic book, figurine collection etc with a some of anime. But what I have seen from there websites many dvds are not in the correct zone (zone 2), plus they are expensive.
A friend told me he saw a anime section in one of the popular cd/dvd stores. I went there and the anime section was at a small corner next to adult section (Makes you wonder how he found out), they where only about 10 different animes and these where way-way out of my price range.
On satellite, there use to be a channel which was dedicated to anime (Animax). I say use to be, because many of the animes have been replaced with reality shows, but they still have the gauls to call the channel Animax. To show you how bad it is they have never shown Naruto and have only shown 52 episodes of Bleach (who the hell shows only half a season?)
I went to the UK a couple of years and I was amazed at how big anime is compared to here
. Even large cd/dvd retail stores such as HMV sold alot of anime dvds and you could even buy they're soundtracks. From time to time I ask a family member to buy boxsets for me before they visit. But if it wasn't for my university's internet i would be stuck wathcing reality shows on a channel which is suppose to show animes.
