sad
Its just about a guy called yukito, not like yukito from SCC, this yukito is more manly!
He gains money with marionette shows, that he moves with magic.
He travels from one to another city and ends in one city without money, and starts the business.
A girl finds him, and treats him like a friend, and yukito soon finds thats this isn`t a very normal city...
Specially the habitants...

I've read its review on magazine a few years ago, but I haven't watched it yet, I'll add it to my watch list

Well, I started watching it yesterday. I like it so far, but it's not as good as kanon or clannad.
Any other anime of that kind I shall watch?

I haven't watch Kanon... But I know Clannad is beautiful...
AiR... Its bitter sweet, - or you can say "tragic" flow of story is what makes it good. It's a really sad story, and I hated it ended the way it did - letting Misuzu die.
Misuzu is such a lovely girl you would love to love and protect. <redundant>
She is very cheerful and slightly clumsy girl.
And what's more cute about her is how she often mentions the pseudo-dinosauric phrase "Gao" whenever she feels troubled or is about to cry.
AiR is a heart warming-breaking story you don't want to miss...(
PS: What's more sad about this is that, the resolution/quality is TOO LOW. I wish there is an available 720/480 p.

I've finally finished watching it. and yeah, it was really tragic. I don't like how it ended cz it was really sad.
but what I like about this anime is in the beginning there were lots of mysteries about the characters and along the episodes the problem was unveiling and resolved. but still the problem with the main character, Misuzu was left unresolved and I don't like that, haha.

I liked the anime, but the ending .... I cried a lot
26-04-2013 08:08:49
The ending is superb, but it wasn't explained as well as it should have been to fully apreciate it the first time you watch it. It actually leave's you with the idea of a "bad" ending, with Yukito failing even after sacrificing everything. Not what happened tho.
Misuzu's arc is one of the best arcs in anime for sure, while the other 3 arcs aren't that great (the sisters arc was nice at least). Even if the whole anime (and key's VNs in general) has a lot of fantasy and magic stuff, it could perfectly be a story without them and still make a lot of sense. After all, it's a story about a girl with a terminal deasese.
Misuzu's arc sends one of the, if not the strongest message of all anime's i've seen: living is not about living for a long time, but to be as happy as you can in the time you are given. Misuzu starts the anime with no friends at all, and a "mother" that is cold towards her (because she knows she's gonna die, and thus doesn't want to get attached and suffer because of it). At this point, Misuzu wasn't sad, but she was far from happy.
But because of Yukito, she finally starts getting friends, and get's closer to her mom. Yet after a short while Misuzu's health start to get worse, and Yukito decides to leave her so she can live at least for while longer. But he changes his mind, and comes back to her, just to find her in her deathbed, crying and filled with grief and sadness. Thus he sacrifices himself for her (in the anime he becomes a crow, but this is but another way of showing what every person has to give up in order for someone in Misuzu's situation to live happier). He gives up everything for her, just to be by her side. That is the miracle Yukito achieves, and never he intended to cure her with it. This is something that you can clearly understand when paying attention if you watch it a second time, but almost noone get's it the first time.
So, Misuzu gets a second chance, her mother decides to finally accept her even if it'll end up being terribly sad in the end. And it all ends with her final scene, when she walks towards her mother, reaching her, and she asks her if she did well enough, meaning if all the effort she had put to live happy had been good enough, and then she dies being happy and proud of the life she had. Thus, it's not a "bad" ending, since she achieved what life really is about. After all, we all going to die in the end.

Well it's good you understood it the 2nd time.
Long story short, this anime leaves an impression of "wanting for more" or "can't get enough" moving people to have [in their imagination] their own epilogue and/or OVAs.
I wish the anime could have shown a more romantic relationship between Misuzu and Yukito just like the film.
